All juniors and seniors with a weighted cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better as of the end of their sophomore or junior years are invited by formal notification to apply to the National Honor Society.

The four basic requirements for membership are as follows:

Leadership may be demonstrated by holding a club or team office or by consistently setting good example through positive actions and attitudes.
- Service: requires that the student has or is currently participating or enrolled to participate in extracurricular activities which in some way perform a service to the school. Service also requires that the student has or is in some way participating in an extra-scholastic activity that provides service to the community or family.

The advisor mails the student activity data forms which must be completed by the candidates and signed by the parent or guardian to validate candidate’s information including community service.
The advisor request input from the faculty and staff concerning the candidacy of the applicants. A list of candidates is printed and distributed to faculty and staff. Faculty and staff are requested to submit input by a specific date.
A five member faculty council is appointed by the principal. The National Honor Society advisor serves as an ex-officio member. After all input is received from the faculty and staff, the council will convene to discuss and vote on the students’ candidacies. A majority vote is required for membership.
The advisor informs the candidates of their selection or non-selection to the National Honor Society. A formal letter of congratulations shall be sent to the prospective inductees and their parents, indicating the date, time, and place of the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony; pointing out that membership in the society commences at the time of the induction ceremony. Candidates not selected for membership will also be informed by letter from the advisors.
National Honor Society members are required to perform 10 hours of volunteer service per marking period, attend meetings, and participate in service activities.
